Sleek look. I like that it™™s not connected to WiFi in case of connection outages I can still use it. Easy to use functions. I love the option to use the oven for baking as well. I had the older version of this model for 19 years!

I am writing this review not because the product is not good but GE doesn™™t stand behind their products, I am having a new house built, the microwave could not be installed because the granite backsplash was too high, my builder fixed the backsplash 9 days later, when the installer installed it we noticed the Bottom was bent near the filters, I called GE and a third party company came and said it would have to be replaced, I waited 2 weeks and called GE, they said it could not be replaced because they have a strict 7 day policy due to cosmetic damage, they offered a discount on a new unit which was $509.6 plus $40.7 tax plus $150 for delivery a total of $700.37 the new unit list price is $728 which is not what I paid for it. Do not I repeat don™™t ever buy another appliance from a company that doesn™™t stand behind their product, the customer service representative Lisa was very nice but her hands are tied due to strict GE policies, I asked if my claim can be escalated the answer was no.

This unit does not operate on the same wattage as my previous Profile unit. My older one was 20 years old & used 1,000 watts. This new one is operating on 900 watts. It does make a difference.

I wish we had purchased a simple microwave instead of one with air fryer option. The book that came with the microwave has minimal info about use of the air fryer option! The only fresh vegetable air fryer recipe is for wedge potatoes! The potatoes were done but didn™™t even have brown edges. I have guessed in air frying fresh broccoli, cauliflower etc. Will be using my oven from now on. No instruction for reheating pizza etc. I guess it just trial and error. Will just use my breville toaster oven or my regular oven. My bad and wish I had just saved the cash for this replacement purchase. I also find the most common control options are at the top of the microwave and a bit labor intensive to learn the new routine. I do love the brighter surface light and more powerful exhaust venting.

On sale this microwave is $700. We replaced a profile advantium with this over the range profile microwave with air fry. The advantium died after six years of everyday use. Not bad these days. The new microwave is much lower quality even though it™™s a profile and expensive. Clearly a lot of material cost take out. Door feels light and cheap. Handle feels like you could pull it off. Buttons require much more force to engage. No butter melt opton. No night light function. Microwave works as well as the old one. Have not tried the convection oven or air fry yet but I'm sure both work well. Too bad the interactive user experience is not what it once was.

Firstly, the functionality of the cooking is excellent. The vent fan is weak. We replaced a Maytag MMV6180WS1 that was about 14 years old, which had the same capacity exhaust/vent fan, rated at 300cfm. The Maytag was vented outside the house, and the air it moved could be felt outside the soffit exhaust vent. The same cannot be said on the new GE microwave. The air it is moving can barely open the outdoor soffit vent, and it is unable to hold a piece of tissue paper to the intake filter with the fan on high. We called the appliance dealer we purchased it from, and they suggested a service call, as it is under warranty. The technician claimed it is working as it should, and that new microwave vent fans do not perform as well as the old, rated at the same CFM. Overall, we are happy with the features, and it's cooking ability. Not so much with the exhaust fan.

I have purchased other GE products in the past and decided on this one for all the amenities that it has. In the time we had it,we only ever used the microwave function. We tried the others but felt they were not useful. 13 months after purchase it quit working. The guarantee of course is 12 months . We had not purchased the extended warranty because have never had a microwave quit working. We have only replaced to upgrade. But here we are at 13 months with an $800 microwave that s going to recycle. We contacted GE whose response was. Well it is what it is. They offered to try to repair for around $500. Needless to say I would not recommend this model from my experience.

I love everything about this microwave. I love it so much I bought another one for my new house when I moved. It is easy to use, has more functions than I could possible use and is super functional as a multi use appliance. The air fry and speed cooker are wonderful additions to the microwave features. In my first home I mounted it over the stove and it talked to the stove with Bluetooth. So convenient having the lights and the vent automatically turn on when I turned on the stove. In my new house it is built into the cabinetry over a countertop and looks lovely with my other GE Profile appliances. I cannot rave about this microwave enough.

This is my 2nd purchase of a microwave from your company. The microwave is cool, which comes with an air fryer and a conventional oven. The old GE profile microwave lasted 20 years. And also, I have a GE dishwasher that I purchased in 2014. GE is a good brand.

3 yo Advantium DIED, Cheap GE

Replaced Advantium OTR Microwave that lasted all of THREE YEARS for a $1500 mw oven. Total JUNK, Bought a GE cheapy to use the same hanging bracket. I wanted to keep the kitchen appliances all the same with the GE Profile line. Sorry but Advantium NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I sent complaints about my 3 year old Advantium dying to GE and heard NOTHING.

Installation and Ventilation

I've had the GE PVM9179SR1SS over the tange Microwave/Convection oven for about a year now. I have used all 3 modes of cooking (convection, microwave and airfry). I can not say enough how well it works. That being said there have been issues. During the installation by an appliance installer the included mounting template was a direct match (except for 1 hole) as our old GE microwave's mounting points. During the install the mounting points shown on the template didn't match the unit and the installer had to re-drill all of the holes. The other issue is with the air vent grill. While removing the air vent grill to replace the charcoal filter I noticed the plastic grill was cracked in 2 places (right top mounting screw bracket tang and lower center retaining block). Since I used the instructions to remove the vent grill to replace the filter it appears the cracks may have been caused during manufacture or from use (opening and closing the door as the door rests on and hits the vent grill each time the door is opened and closed. As a fix I super glued the crack lines in hopes they would not get worse. I changed the filter again today when the change filter light came on. During the removal I found both areas noted above had broken off. Now that I've spent $40+ for a new plastic vent grill I suggest GE make this piece out of aluminum or carbon fiber to give a longer life to the air vent grill.

Just Purchased, Not Happy with Controls

Do not buy if you like to have control over cooking, especially with the main feature of microwaving. Can only set time in 15 second intervals. Just figured out how to change the power level: press cook time, set time with dial, ™dial™ blinks, click dial, press power level, set power with dial, ™dial™ blinks - but this time you don™™t need to press it, you can hit start. Too many clicks GE! New designs are not always better. Other settings don™™t even show you a time countdown, so you have no idea how long something will cook. I™™m still trying to learn how to use it, but will likely look to purchase a simple, user friendly microwave in the near future.

I made the mistaking of buying the higher end unit because of its claimed "AirFryer" feature. Let me be clear ... this is NOT and AirFryer. Not even close. It barely gets the inside temp over 300 degrees after 15 minutes. I was tricked by their marketing into purchasing this instead of a lower cost microwave. Dont waste your money.

I bought this model since it had the air fryer and convection cooking features. there is no key pad and there was no instruction manual came with it. It takes forever to figure out how to work it. Takes forever to figure out how to set the time, how to use the air fryer, how to use the convection oven. I paid a lot more than the current price and wish I hadn't. Would love to get rid of it but I would lose to much money

Do not buy this appliance if you want an Air Fryer. The Air Fryer function takes more than twice as long to cook things as a stand alone air fryer, and even then, it not cooked as well. When I asked GE if something was wrong with my microwave/convection oven/air fryer, they said I couldn't expect it to work as well as a stand alone air fryer. Save your money. Buy a microwave and keep your Costco $60 air fryer because it works far better than this appliance. (I never complain about companies but this is a travesty of false advertising.)
