We haven't used the oven function yet as we've only had the unit for about a month. We use the microwave everyday and it performs perfectly. However, the microwave "beep" signal for the end of the cycle is not loud enough to hear, even when we are close. We really like the height of the microwave compared to our old unit, as it is lower and easier to get hot food out. The unit we replaced was 20 years old, so very similar function, just different controls.

Excellent oven/microwave at good price. I really do wish it came with a printed Owners Manual. I called GE to request a printed version but was told that GE is trying to save the environment and only older people and less text savvy. People wanted a hard copy. For your information I am tech savvy, and I don™™t consider myself older however you may want to consider that many older people do have more disposable income.
There are several items I microwave at less than 10 seconds but I can™™t set it for less than 15.

The interior capacity space is larger than most 27 inch ovens so my large lasagna pan fits, the controls are easy to use, the design is sleek looking, the performance has been good so far. One thing I don™™t like is the pull down door on the microwave, but that™™s my preference. I keep getting a request to sign up for a warranty extension coverage, I purchased a GE product do to good reviews on quality, so I questioned why I need an extended warranty.

I've only had the built-in microwave and oven appliance for a few weeks. The basic functions work very well and there are more control options than I'm likely to need or use! The look and style of the unit is very modern and attractive in the stainless steel. There is one feature that I think should be included in the description or in reviews, because I did not realize the consequence before selecting this model. This model has a microwave with a pull-down door, common in current models, rather than a door that opens to the side. If you are 5'3 or shorter, it is a stretch to place items in and take them out. You will not be able to clean the back or the roof of the microwave without use of a step stool! This may not be a concern for many, but it came as a surprise to me since I hadn't anticipated this problem.

I™™m disappointed . I replaced an Similar 10 yr old GE unit. This new GE unit, JK3800 does not have the same automatic sensor capabilities and selections as the older model, e.g. cooking potato™™s.

The combo oven is sleek and looks good, but there are issues: upon installation, the oven doesn™™t heat properly; I verified with a separate oven thermometer that the oven is over-heating, and I™™ve requested a warranty repair.
Also, there™™s a major design flaw with the microwave, with the door opening down, rather than to the side. This makes it difficult to place things in and take out from the oven, and I can barely reach the back to clean splatters, because the door is in the way.
The microwave is also over-engineered, requiring you to set 4 or 5 settings, including the power level, every time you use it.
And I don™™t like using a dial, rather than pressing a touch pad.
Finally, a motor continues running, in the microwave, after the time you set expires, and the display says that the oven is cooling. This motor keeps running, until you open the door, no matter how long you wait, ™for the oven to cool.™

[Employee of ge_appliances] Had product for only one week. So far my only comment is this. Once the unit was installed and microwave handle wrapper was removed it showed a dent in the handle which must be replaced. Awaiting call back from installer as when replacement handle can be installed.

I don't like the oven because it quit working in less than 3 months. It has error: Communication error with lower oven. Turned off breaker for 5+ minutes and got same results. Now must turn in warrantee claim for service.

I replaced my current microwave/oven combo that I purchased 20 years ago with a similar but newer model because the microwave on the old one stopped working while the regular oven still worked perfectly. The ovens have a newer design particularly when it comes to the controls which are entirely electronic and necessitates having a detailed instructions manual to learn how to operate them particularly for elderly people. Unfortunately, the installers informed me that GE no longer includes a user's manual with the purchase and refers consumers to their website where a manual is available electronically. I was told it was a savings measure decision by GE. For a product with a list price at $3,999, it is rather surprising that GE would make such a decision. My wife and I are still struggling to learn the various features.

The oven is perfect, has even cooking and nice controls. The microwave is the same in controls but its huge capacity. If i had to complain the only thing that is not great is the microwave door. It opens down instead of sideways. This makes it hard for my short wife to get to the back and clean.

We had this oven delivered in July 2025. The oven looks nice, it heats up relatively quickly. The microwave has weird controls that need to be simplified. To cook something for any time more than 30 seconds you need to use the round dial and hit it around 6 times. The capacity of the ovens are fine as is the temperature.
Our reason to warn others not to buy this oven is that the GE Engineers have coated the oven racks with porcelain, that peels and flakes away after just 3-4 uses. Additionally these defective racks stick to the inside of the oven cavity like they are superglued inside. The racks can't be removed at all and to do so, they have to be forced out, gouging the porcelain. GE knows they have an issue with these racks and their fix does not work, unfortunately. The manual and the service techs say to oil the racks. But, you can't oil racks that are stuck and the oiling causes damage and the racks restick soon after oiling, once you use the oven several more times even with temperatures as low as 350-400 degress.
We had a GE service tech come out due to the racks being stuck and having the finish peel off and stick to the bottom of our baking pan. The service tech proceeded to force out the oven racks, gouging the new porcelain. He then oiled the rack slides inside the oven, all over the left and right walls of the oven cavity. He said this would solve the problem and ordered new racks also. We then continued to use the oven 3-4 more times and the oil carbonized, hardened and blackened onto the porcelain, making the oven look like it was 20 years old, and then the racks became re-stuck yet again.
Without functional racks, the oven is useless as they need to be able to be slid in and out to take out heavy pans and to adjust to differenat heights in the oven, depending on the size of what is being cooked or baked. It is an obvious design flaw because who has to oil racks in an oven to get them to work and then have the oil damage the oven cavity, only to have the racks re-stick?
We were unable to put the oven at high temperatures or use broil to test all the cooking modes due to the stuck and peeling racks.
The photos of the oven showed an oven that looked 20 years old and due to the defective nature of this oven, the store exchanged it for us and we bought a different brand.
GE has to fix the rack problem instead of telling customers to add oil to the racks as it does not work and the oven is therefore non-fundtional as an oven.

This unit replaced a 24 year old microwave/oven. The old unit literally burn out and we couldn™™t stop the F-2 button. I love this unit it has a large capacity microwave that is simple to use. I haven™™t used the oven only because we just bought it a few days ago. Controls are at eye level which makes it especially convenient to use. Functionality easy. Not to crazy about the button to set the settings but I guess I™™ll get use to it.

The microwave should open with side door because the drop down door gets in the way when trying to insert and take out any dish you™™re preparing. The drop down door also makes it difficult to clean the microwave. Also, the touch/tap screen is much more convenient to use as opposed to the knob.
The oven takes longer than the previous GE oven to heat, but cooks well once right temperature is reached.

We have not had a chance to use everything, but we are pretty certain that we love our new combo microwave/thermal wall oven! First off, it looks fantastic! It has so many functions and is user friendly. We cooked a homemade a pizza recently and for the very first time ever, the crust was crispy - delicious! We can put a large bowl in the microwave, and it fits without bumping the sides as it goes around. All in all, a very good purchase.

This is now one of our favorite purchases for the home. We replaced a very fragile GE Oven/Microwave oven circa 2000 or so. This product is light years ahead of that one. Very, very sold feeling, it is attractive looking and has been working flawlessly. One thing that was irritating was that a full product user's manual was not included, so we had to find one on the web, and now have to print the thing. There are features/functions/cooking modes we are not sure how they really should work, so it's still trial and 'error' at times. I like the new ergonomics with the one control area that manages both the oven and microwave... except... when you select the time to run the microwave you can only do it in 15 second intervals. I used to enter 7 or 8 seconds for a few items we regularly cook on the old microwave. Now I need to either press the 'add 30 seconds' button and watch/stop, or I need to select microwave cooking and then dial in 15 seconds and watch/stop before done.

We are very pleased with this microwave/oven unit. It replaced an older 27-inch microwave/oven and fit into the space perfectly with no problems at all.
